NBC selective editing of the Interview with Widow of Navy Seal

This morning on the Today Show, Matt Lauer interviewed one of the  wives of one of the Navy Seals killed this weekend. He asked her what she would say to her children about their dad and how she would want them to remember him…She said, and I quote, ” His love for Christ” and then continued with a few other things…through out the day and on MSN homepage…when the story is replayed they have edited the “Love of Christ” part out…

Why? Because using the word Christ might offend someone…well I am a Christian and I am offended! Offended that they would edit it out. Offended that we as Christians are asked to tread lightly so as not to offend someone of another religion…well I have read the book and guess what…We Win!

I think anyone who missed the original broadcast this morning should know what NBC has done. This man loved his country and loved his God and gave his life for both, just as Christ gave His life for him…

Please feel free to copy this and forward it to everyone on your email list..There are emails that go around saying ” If you believe in God” then forward this…well I am starting one..right here, right now…I am not ashamed of God but I am becoming more ashamed of my country…It is time to take a stand.

I respect every person’s right to practice the religion of his/her choice AND the right to so proclaim.
When did a vocal section of America decide one must respect every religion except Christianity? When did we begin to allow the vocal few to dictate to the majority?
NBC, you offend me and recently, you have done it frequently.

      Ms. Applegate:

If you read my posts below you will understand my asking you, “How did you come to know about the NBC re-editing?

[I’ll be notified of your reply by e-mail if “Marion” doesn’t “Moderate me” into non-existence,]

  2. #3 by geTaylor on August 25, 2011 - 1:07 am

I left a reply here concerning this allegation against NBC for allegedly editing “Love of Christ” part out of a navy seal’s wife’s statement concerning her KIA husband.
Part my reply contained a video that appeared to be the entire video, with the religious reference you say was edited out, along with additional statements by the deceased soldier’s father and mother, both including strong attestations of their own and there son’s belief in Christianity as a source of strength and comfort.

It appears that, rather than answer my initial questions about the basis of your allegations, you have chosen to “moderate” my questions by making them disappear. Wouldn’t it be more honest to directly answer me?

I am giving you another chance.

What, other than your “word” supports the allegation you are apparently alone in making against NBC?

I respectfully wait on the favor of your reply.

Read the entire post…it does not say that it was edited out in the original airing, but in SUBSEQUENT replays of the interview..I do not know whether they have pulled the replays or not nor do I care…the statement stands, enough people saw the replays to confirm the editing.

      • #5 by geTaylor on August 25, 2011 - 4:47 am

I really don’t want to be a tendentious twit – but don’t you have a clip of the edited rebroadcasts, or the the reports, web sites, and supporting statements of “enough people saw the replays to confirm the editing.”

I know NBC has a (deservedly) very bad “reputation” in this area from their “editing” of the “Pledge of Allegiance” with the purpose of eliminating “under God”. I can’t remember the last time I watched an NBC show since then.

You don’t know me, and I don’t know you, and I do need more than just your statement -especially since I had to “hunt you down’ for an answer!

My apology for any perceived disrespect, but it’s not about either of our feelings.

Your assertion may continue, if that what you mean by “the statement stands”, [and of course you may “moderate me into non-existence from your site] but it will look more and more like so much hot air if it is made in other venues absent all but your personal assurances that it is true.

Patiently, I respectfully await a responsive answer to my request.

I apologize for my tardiness in replying. I had surgery the 13 of this month and am now recovering. When I first received the information there was a clip that showed the editing in the replays. The link to the clip no longer works, nor can I find any clip of the replays, evidently they have been scrubbed. I am convinced beyond doubt of the accuracy of the article.
Keep drinking the liberal “cool-aid” till a Socialist boot connects with your rear end and finally opens your mind.

A closed mind is like a locked door, nothing enters till the right key is found, unfortunately for the multitude of fools who supported a Socialist for president and Socialists in congress the key will be hindsight.

      • #7 by geTaylor on August 26, 2011 - 12:02 am

        Mr. Valentine:

I’m not sure what the “Keep drinking the liberal ‘cool-aid'” comment is supposed to be referring to – I doubt that you even know. Sounds good though. The idea that a request for supporting evidence is any kind of “cool-aid” at all seems peculiar to me. Life teaches different lessons to each of us.

I’m attaching a clip that I came across looking for something to support your allegation, It seems to be a collection of stories run on NBC after the SEAL helicopter shoot-down.

Portions of the interview with Special Warfare Operator PO 1st Class Vaughn’s wife and parents are included. I’m not sure any of the clips contain the articulate professions of faith in Christ related by Mrs. Vaughn on behalf of her husband. Perhaps these were the clips you saw and they provided the basis for your allegation.
I hope your recovery proceeds to 100% – why not to 150%?
Remember to wait until you can distinguish the whites of their eyes,

Thanks, but don’t believe any of those clips are the link to the one in the original message, and since the link to it no longer works …who knows…but the info was sent to me by another old Navy Intel guy whom I have known since 1960 and I talked to him on the phone today and he can no longer find any clips of the replays on MSNBC either..

  3. #9 by U.S. Military Veteran on August 26, 2011 - 6:47 pm

Here is a link that contains a reference to the interview as well as video.

She does mention “His love for Christ” in the text as being something that his children will take with them through life.

NBC News: I think it’s digusting that you edit this woman’s words. This is American land of the Free.
In the Constitution it says we have the right to free speech. Do you not believe in the Constiution? You and your new cast seem to say whatever you feel is right. And no one edit’s your words. It’s no wonder why people turn to Fox News. They do crumble to the Main Stream Media such as yourself.
I have no desire to watch any new caster on NBC or MSNBC such news media is a joke especially Chris Mattews.

If you free you need to edit interviews, the take your newcast and leave America, because this is the land of the free, that includes freedom of speech.

Very disburting that such a news media would do such under handed things like this. But then again
it is NBC, thank you for making me appreciate Fox News all the more.

Thank you for making me even more appreciative of FOX

If you believe in God, common sense leads one to believe also that all truth coheres in God. So, the spiritual world is real to those who truly believe in God. I’m almost 83 and fading, but I still believe that the greatness of America was founded on this belief. Even Abraham Maslow wrote about 500 of the greatest leaders of the world being spiritually inclined. There are great spiritual principles in most expression of Faith that are very much alike. We need these guiding principles far more than we need those derived by the dim candle of reason. Carroll B. /freeman

This is becoming all too familiar. If it weren’t for Fox News, I would not watch any news. My Aunt had on CNN when I was at her house. It made me sick to my stomach, listening to twists, spins and out and out lies. We, the MAJORITY, must stick together and not allow those few who do not believe in God or the truth, ruin our country. I had to tell my Aunt that if she were in my house, CNN, or any of the other main stream medias, would NOT be on.

Thank you for sending this. I am here in Afghanistan at COP Carwile, the base responding to this crash and loss of life. I am retired as a Navy man as well but still serve as a contractor, accumalating 18 tours. Each day here and in the states the Muslim population blasts their religious waning over the cities. They demand their religious views to be heard and respected. OR ELSE. The socialists and govt media bark “separation from state and religion” but hand the Muslims the bull horn. The media, ACLU, Obama regime have one agenda destroy Christian religions. This is their poison. Any of you people that want to see this in action come here, bring whatever weapon you have, your gonna need it. Keep that weapon becasue you will need it in the United States as well.

ge Taylor, I think the link you posted proves Marion’s point. She said “His love of Christ” on the Today show, yet NBC edited that portion out. It’s more than pathetic, it’s an outright attack on Christianity.

    • #16 by geTaylor on September 2, 2011 - 7:02 am

      Mr. Joseph:
Not having seen the video that Mr. Valentine, or at least for now, his blog followers, is/are “flogging”, I’m in a poor position to judge – so I won’t.
However, I’m more than willing to look at the “blasphemy” if you would be so kind as to forward to me the Web site address for it.

      Mr. Valentine:
      You’re deleting my posts again.
      Have you had a relapse?

  9. #17 by Lorita on September 1, 2011 - 10:16 pm

    Shame on NBC

  10. #18 by marionvalentine66 on September 5, 2011 - 4:26 pm

Yes…you missed the fact that that did play in the original interview, but MSNBC edited it out in subsequent replays of that interview…as stated in the original text of the post.

    • #19 by geTaylor on September 5, 2011 - 8:02 pm

Sorry sir, I’m not missing the point about your unhappiness with subsequent broadcasts – those would be occurring after the original broadcast.

You (and your “old Navy Intel guy”) are making points without evidence, and explanations more suitable to an adolescent’s “The dog ate my work” excuses.
Unfortunately for any possible respect you may seek for this “blog” I had the opportunity to re-read some of the crap you thought to “monkey fling” at me without apology – oh yeah I heard (from you) you’ve been sick. The subsequent broadcasts that have your shorts in such a knot were most likely “Promos” (rhymes with the relationship between you and that “old navy intel guy”).
They’re not expected or understood to be the entire show. You are an idiot.

      • #20 by marionvalentine66 on September 6, 2011 - 3:12 pm

When you can’t refute the facts, call call the messenger names. Obama and a good number of so called Democrats are out and out Communists…do some research and prove me wrong…or shut up…;have no more time to waste on idiots such as you..and will not reply to anything you say unless you have hard facts to prove me wrong.

  11. #21 by marionvalentine66 on September 5, 2011 - 4:28 pm

Yes you are missing the fact as stated in the post…In the original interview “His love for Christ” came through..BUT in subsequent replays of that interview MSNBC edited that out.

  12. #22 by pixilated2 on September 10, 2011 - 9:49 pm

Who is this Taylor guy, and what is his malfunction? I received the “email” regarding this post, and came looking for “the truth,” mainly because I never swallow emails that come down the pike to defame an individual or organization without finding out the particulars. Someone else out there refuted your post and directed the readers to his ‘proof’ that you are wrong. (BTW, my search in this vein brought me to your site.)

Ahem, the video backs you up.

So why is this Taylor guy beating a dead horse and slinging sophomoric slurs at you? He needs to grow up or shut up.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention,

    • #23 by marionvalentine66 on September 10, 2011 - 11:29 pm

If You will look on my site for my article “America In Peril” you will find an embedded video of an interview with Yuri Bezmenov, a former KGB agent who defected in 1978 and taped this interview in 1984..Yuri said that he was amazed how well the indoctrination and demoralization of America had gone. That now so many Americans were so indoctrinated that you could bury them in facts, documents, pictures, and you could take them by force to see with their own eyes and they still would not believe.

  13. #24 by Keith Brooke on September 15, 2011 - 7:10 am

Yes, everyone has a tendency to be selective but in fairness to MSNBC, they do have a seven minute video posted containing the “Love for Christ” quote. Check out the link below for the video:

Why do I sense so much hate here?

Check your red letter bible, it says to “love your enemies” and to even “pray for those abusing and persecuting you.” Start at Mat. 5:43 and read to the end of the chapter.

Perhaps we should follow our Savior’s words instead of attacking one another. What example are you setting for Taylor? WWJD

In 1958 I swore an oath to defend my country from all enemies within and without, then spent 9 years in Navy Intelligence and gave up my health fighting against the spread of Socialism. Socialism is still the enemy, and those in the White House and Congress who wish to promote their Liberal/Progressive/Socialist/ Communist agenda are my enemies, and as long as I have breath I will strive to shine the light of truth on their web of lies.

Why watch any of the major networks, they say and print what they want. GO FOX, the only truthful reporting on TV.
