While the Republican’s newly unveiled “Pledge To America” is debatably
better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, it’s lame, anemic
“platform,” isn’t anything to write home about. (Link)
It’s pathetic to watch the US mainstream media yearn for a hurricane,
especially one that will threaten people. They anxiously scan the
weather maps off the coast of West Africa for any low-pressure system
that might develop into a news making, life threatening, normal event.
It is another measure of how the media is not about news but
editorializing, speculation and sensationalism. Sadly, they are joined
in this or at least not dissuaded or counteracted by government

IN THE LATE 1930’s A HARVARD STUDENT TRAVELED TO Europe
to see its brutal dictatorships firsthand. He visited Mussolini’s Italy,
Stalin’s Soviet Union and Hitler’s Germany. Writing in his diary, the
young man confided that he had come “to the decision that Facism ((sic))
is the thing for Germany and Italy, Communism for Russia and Democracy
for America and England.”

President Obama’s true feelings about supporting the troops in Iraq
